Givenchy Haute Couture Fall 2011

It’s very difficult to explain the sheer craftsmanship and attention to detail that went into the only 10 looks of the Givenchy Fall 2011 Couture collection. Photos never do justice when we are talking hundreds of hours of fine handwork. The lightness and heavenly presence the collection exuded was balanced by the fragility and grace each piece displayed. Riccardo Tisci explained the collection was a meditation on “Purity, lightness, fragility,” And it was done exquisitely.

Vogue Hommes Japan Vol 4: Rebirth Of Nature

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on April 20, 2010 by James Field

As I flipped through the current issue of Vogue Hommes Japan at the Kinokuniya  bookstore in Midtown today after my OWN Magazine meeting, one editorial just jumped off the page and kicked me in the face. It was called “Rebirth of Nature” and featured model Julius Gerhardt styled by Nicola Formichetti and shot by Josh Olins. It was beyond beautiful (what else do you expect from Japanese Vogue?) the lines, colors and angles that the images gave were so organic, so fresh, and fabulously stunning. The intricacy of the styling was something that I had never seen before, the contrast between the classic silhouettes of the suiting pieces, paired with the machinery and robotic tone of the random items that were painted the same tones to match the clothing, was genius. My favorite was the Givenchy studded shirt by Riccardo Tisci covered in the many layers of gold necklaces, random gold machinery and this killer eye patch. The entire spread was truly an artistic expression of futuristic awesomeness.  Enjoy “Rebirth of Nature” via images from The Fashionisto.

Givenchy Fall 2009 Couture: Morrocan Fantasy

Posted in Art Nouveau with tags , , , , , , , , on November 10, 2009 by James Field

The collection that Riccardo Tisci sent down the runway for the Givenchy Fall 2009 Couture collection was beyond mere comprehension. It was out of this world, he is a true visionary and innovator of fashion. This collection pulled influences from Morocco, Greek Goddesses, and rocker chic silhouettes. The herem pants were executed to perfection, the beading, studd work, the velvets and the studded head bands were amazingly done. The work Riccardo Tisci did for this collection was absolutely marvelous. Here are some of my favorite looks from the show…
