NY-Fashion-Week-Scedule

Well it’s finally here!

New York is about witness another blitz of Runway shows, street style super stars ( I use that loosely), presentations, parties, after parties, and after after parties.Yes, its Fashion Week and I have the schedule here for all you crashers, photogs, and aspiring visionaries alike. I think the most exciting thing about Fashion Week for me, is the carelessness of it all, so to speak. Aside from Halloween, it’s one of two times a year that you can dress up like a moody, cross gender bending, space cadet and have your image immortalized by Tommy Ton or The Sartorialist. People tap into the eccentricity that is underlying within them, and present it for the world to see, during the years most fabulous events. I mean you can’t wear a Givenchy leather kilt, and carry a Pashli Satchel to the office everyday (talking to the guys) so it really does become a festival of free will, individuality, and pure creative alchemy.

So go forth New York in all of your splendor and chicness, the French will never take us seriously if we don’t STEP IT UP!

See you at Lincoln Center!

Ready?....

Its almost here! New York Fashion Week is kicking off in less than two weeks and I can feel the excitement rising. For the most part, I hope the great names we love and covet bring us just that, EXCITEMENT back into fashion. With all that has happen within the fashion world thus far, most notably the arrival of Raf Simmons at Dior and Alexander Wang now at the helm of Balenciaga people are on edge for whats to come.

Excited for the most part to be inspired again and see what people will be talking about this season.

Topic: Fashion’s Night Out

I am so excited for Fashion’s Night Out in New York City on September 10th! I will be making my way around the city’s participating retailers, sipping cocktails, checking out collections and just having some much needed Fashion Fun! Anyone and everyone is invited and no RSVP’s are neede, so  check out Fashion Night Out for the official list of designers and retailers participating in the event. Below is the official information on the event from the Fashion’s Night Out website. I will be there..will you?!

“In a global initiative to promote retail, restore consumer confidence, and celebrate fashion, U.S. and international editions of Vogue are coordinating evening extravaganzas in their respective world fashion capitals.

In the United States, American Vogue has joined with NYC & Company, the City of New York, and the Council of Fashion Designers of America to enliven again the consumer spirit that churns the economy and boosts the local industry of America’s fashion capital, New York City. Next only to finance, fashion is the second-largest sector of industry in New York City—the headquarters of more than 800 fashion companies employing 175,000 people and generating $10 billion in total wages. At City Hall’s May 20 press conference to announce Fashion’s Night Out, Vera Wang said, “To put it bluntly, if people don’t shop, people lose their jobs.”

The first evening of New York Fashion Week, Fashion’s Night Out will encompass festivities galore— from inventive window displays to model and celebrity appearances. Champagne may flow; hors d’oeuvres may be passed. Rumors of musical performances, downtown barbecues, shoe capsules, limited-edition rings, and sweepstakes abound. Apparently there will be makeovers, brow bars, and haircut stations at sundry spots, too.

We’ve invited every fashion retailer across the five boroughs to encourage the fun of fashion again—flagships, tiny boutiques, massive department stores, young designers, mainstream chains, and niche luxury names alike—by keeping its doors open late on the evening of September 10 and to implement creative customer experiences welcoming all. Over 700 retailers and designers across New York City are confirmed participants in Fashion’s Night Out.

On Fashion’s Night Out, every participating location is open to anyone and everyone. Neither tickets nor invitations are required to join in the Fashion’s Night Out festivities.”

UPDATE: Fashion’s Night Out was an absolute extravaganza of fun with, celebrities and crazy amounts of champagne lol 🙂 I met up with a few friends and we made our way around 5th Avenue to check out some of the events, Ciara was performing at Versace and we got to see the super model Chanel Iman. Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen were at Bergdorff Goodman, we didnt get to see them because of the crazy amount of people who packed the store. We snapped some shots at the Armani store and the Prada boutique.

Topic: Anna Wintour On David Letterman

Anna Wintour made an appearance on David Letterman last night to promote the September Issue of Vogue and the new documentary  about the making of that issue, entitled “The September Issue” which hit stands Aug, 28th. The documentary is a behind the scenes look at Anna and the staff of Vogue creating the largest and most important issue of the year. Anna was absolutely charming, funny and personable on Letterman (obviously not as how people portray her) When asked by David about why the documentary only shows the more “mature” members of the Vogue staff, Anna chuckles and replies ” Well, Vogue is not only run by senior citizens” It was so funny! Also she promoted”Fashions Night Out” a huge event with big names such as Taylor Momsen, Diddy, Anna Sui and more who will make appearances all around New York, with the purpose to bring the fun back to Fashion Week. The event will take place on Sept 10th and will be kicked off by Anna joined with Michael Kors, the cast of Hair Spray and more at the Queens Center Macys’ Iin Elmhurst, signing Fashion Night Out T-shirts. I’m actually planning on  camping out overnight, so I will be there and post about it!!..I’m not even kidding! This is Anna Wintour people! LOL Here is the video of Anna on Letterman…enjoy!
