Custom Alexander McQueen

As most of you may have guessed by now, I have an undying fascination with the artist, heiress and style icon, Daphne Guinness. Along with being a fan I appreciate her style as a sense of true self-expression, opulence and whimsy.  Recently she has joined forces with Valerie Steele and F.I.T , to curate a display of roughly 1,000 pieces from her personal wardrobe. Consisting of timeless archive pieces from Alexander McQueen, Chanel, Valentino, Nina Ricci and Givenchy just to name a small few. The exhibition will be inspired by Daphne’s 5th Avenue apartment and will include jewelry pieces, as well as her vast hat collection. Below are some preview images of pieces in the exhibition. Words cannot describe how excited I am to see this, as I have been waiting almost two years now for this to come into fruition.

The Zoe Team

The Zoe Team

Its always better the second time around! The second season of The Rachel Zoe Project just aired on Bravo, and it was BANANAS! Honestly my fashion blood begins to boil when I see Rachel and Brad go to Van Cleef to get vintage archive jewels, (OMG the Turquoise ugh!!) for Eva Mendes. OK! phew…calm down James, now the episode consisted of the usual high octane glamour, but on a much more different scale. First off, Rachel moved from her insane Hollywood Hills mansion to this stunning (looks like a penthouse) luxury apartment in L.A, secondly they moved the team to a new studio which is a lot more organized. Now the task at hand for the Zoe camp was to style Eva Mendes, Anne Hathaway, Demi Moore, Cameron Diaz and Debra Messing for the Golden Globes. Here are Rachels clients all complelelty styled for the 2009 Golden Globes…

All of Rachel’s clients “shut it down” and looked “ah-mazing”  The episode was filled with the intense hustling and scampering for designer gowns that we are all used to, but the real kicker was when Rachel Zoe actually completely altered a one of a kind, Haute Couture Chanel gown for Cameron Diaz!! ARE YOU SERIOUS?! At that moment my love and respect for RZ was solidified and showed her true power in the fashion industry, to change the design of Karl Lagerfelds creation based on a vision of how the American public would portray her client and the dress. Karl was so elated that the situation worked out with the dress, he sent RZ a plaque showing his regards, Rachel called it her “Chanel Diploma” LOVE IT!  This episode was only a taste of whats to come, and I kid  you not that I will be there every step of the way, I love RZ and she is a true genius and I respect her as a fashion icon, pioneer, and a fabulous leader in line of work.

The Devil Wears Prada

No movie in recent history has had more of an impact on my life and career than The Devil Wears Prada. Prior to its 2006 release, I wanted to become a Lawyer, the movie completely altered my life and convinced me fashion was my true calling. Aside from the movies comical side and the intense product placements, it embodies everything that any true fashion fanatic would want to acomplish in their career. The passion, tenacity, and hard work exuded by Anne Hathaway’s character (Andy Sachs) without a doubt boils within my blood. The Devil Wears Prada holds a place dear to my “fashion heart” and one day I hope my career is even slightly similar to those of the characters in the movie.

Chanel Haute Couture Fall 2009: “Glamour”

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , , , , on August 4, 2009 by James Field

One of my favorites of the Fall 2009, Paris Haute Couture shows was definitely Chanel. The show was just a pure shot of glamour and decadence, something we desperately needed in these hard times. The entire show was absolutely stunning, but here are a few that I thought were just “show stoppers”…

Ugh! Paris Couture shows make me so happy! Who else but Karl Lagerfeld has a fashion show, with models walking in between massive Chanel No 5 bottles? I Love it!

Anna Wintour

Anna Wintour

Today’s Daily Honor goes to Anna Wintour. What hasn’t been said about probably one of the most powerful women in fashion?, the editor-in-chief of American Vogue Magazine. Her influence has launched hundreds of obscure designers in the fashion stratosphere, and has been dubbed New York’s unofficial “Mayoress” She has so much influence, that she actually came up with the idea to cease Mercedes Benz Fashion Week from taking place at Bryant Park and move it to Lincoln Center in Spring of 2011. Synonymous for her “bob” haircut and wearing dark sunglasses indoors while observing fashion shows, and her countless Chanel skirt suits, Anna is the force behind many of today’s trends and fashion. Her work at Vogue is legendary but circulating rumors of her retirement have begun to spread, even if she chooses to do so, her work will never be matched and her legacy will continue to propel Vogue at the forefront of fashion and a leader in style.
