Any Old Iron Store Opening Event

This past Thursday, March 11th was the launch event for the English menswear boutique “Any Old Iron”, in the Lower East Side of New York. The store is the creative brainchild of designer/stylist Andrew Clancey and arts-entrepreneur, Christopher Melton.

“The shop’s name is rooted in the olden cry of a scrap man collecting metal with his horse and cart, and also hearkens to Clancey’s family scrap metal business which was founded in 1872. “Any Old Iron” is also an Old English music hall song which references a young man’s sartorial dandyism – a quality that is distinctly English and ever-present in the shop’s design and the legion of British designers featured.”

The store features rare and awesome UK designer labels such as Tom Baker, Bolongaro Trevor, Red Mutha, Electronic Poet, Fred Perry, Raf Simons, Unconditional, London Undercover, and S***R shoes.

Some of my favorite items were these killer S***R sneakers with cut outs on the sides and this amazing double cardigan by Bolongaro Trevor (which sort of reminds me of the Victor Glemaud cardigans.) The store also features an array mens accessories from bow ties, vintage stop watches, Raf Simmons wallets, bracelets and more.

I attended the event with my co-worker at OWN Magazine, Nick and we totally had a ball sipping on these delicious Belvedere lemonade drinks and being  totally silly and trying on some amazing blazers!

This black sequins blazer totally had my name all over and I couldn’t resist trying it on. Nick looked smashing in this cool, military inspired, patchwork blazer too. Everyone at the opening had a blast and we are sure that this new boutique specializing in unique designers with a UK twist,  located in the heart of the L.E.S will be a phenomenal hit.
