3.1 Phillip Lim Fall 2010 Men’s Collection: The Urban Explorer

Being raised in a mountainous environment for most of my youth, I know a thing or two about hunting and exploration of the outdoors. But the adventurer’s that Phillip Lim created for the Fall 2010 Men’s Collection was that of complete coolness and urban sophistication. No duck boots or plaid wool overall here, no no, this was all about fit, cut, and some serious boots and leather accessories. Majority of the coats were belted and were on track with this seasons military trend. The collection boasts some serious pieces that are awesome for Fall 2010. Here are my favorites courtesy of Fashionising.

Janelle Monáe

The fresh futuristic sounds of new comer Janelle Monae has taken the world by storm. Her voice, charisma and stage presence has allowed her to be our Daily Honoree today. The unique voice and fashion sense that she epitomizes has intrigued me since I first listened to her album Metropolis. She plays on this 1950’s style of dressing which I find totally refreshing, the vibe sets off this coy 1950’s school girl complete with saddle shoes, cropped pants, white bib tux front shirts and black bow ties are all adorned, almost giving off an androgynous mystic. Her style is such a burst of futuristic and classic energy, mixing elements of funk, soul and blues, you cannot help but be enthralled when watching her perform live. “I’m an alien from outer space” declares the Kansas City native, and her unique sound and style is something we all would gladly be abducted by.

ODEUR Spring 2010 Men’s Collection: Light

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , , , on March 17, 2010 by James Field

The summer is a time when you really don’t want to wear anything dark, heavy, or sweat causing. I on the other hand hate summer, and have yet to find a medium in how I dress. I believe the key to surviving the hot summer months is thinking “Light”, that is relevant to both color and material selections. The Swedish label, ODEUR Men’s Spring 2010 Collection is entitled “light” and has some of the coolest (literally) hooded and extra big shirts that drape away from the body to allow for movement and air to circulate. The use of light cottons is so great for the sweltering months ahead, and I really think I will take some pointers from this collection and trickle them into my own wardrobe for summer. Of course I don’t have the chest or arms of our straping European model here (yet) but this collection definitely fits right up my alley for this summer. Enjoy courtesy of Must

Trekking through a legit blizzard for two of my best friends pop up store in Brooklyn may sound crazy, but that’s my life! The “Glory Days” pop up store was Feb 25th, but of course since I shoot with this dinosaur of a camera, I didn’t get my film developed until this week (yeah I know), but the photos came out awesome!

So the beginning of the photos has my friend Caitlin McMullen designs, the cotton t-shirts with the cool embellishments are hers, along with the rack of cool spring dresses. Not to mention she is like an awesome designer, and she knows it! Her work is going to become really huge and ya know what, I will be there to be her publicist! (lol)

The next set was the Christian Joy section, featuring some insanely cool bags and t-shirts with limited edition print  designs on them. Christian was also just featured in Time Out New York as on of the most stylish New Yorker’s, so yeah, she is pretty dope.

Last but certainly not least, is the photography of the great Leia Jospe. One of my best friends, she is beyond talented with her art and so funny and cool. From her Stop Motion Video, to her Fashion Week coverage, she is truly a phenomenal photographer. Now in the two photos above lets play a little game of “Where is James”, can you point me out in the both the photos? (lol)

So aside from the unbelievable blizzard that began when I made my way to the store, and lasted until we closed, we all had a great time!, and I even brought a shirt and had it customized by Caitlin.

Thanks to Caitlin, Leia, Christian and all the brave souls who battled the elements and came out to show support.
