Marlene Dietrich
Today’s Daily Honor goes to the legendary Marlene Dietrich. The German-born American actress and singer was one of Hollywood’s most famous stars in the 1930’s and 40’s. Her fashion sense sent shock waves through society in her day, as she was known for her androgynous style of dressing. Wearing men’s suits, top hats and slicking her hair back in a masculine style, she loved to push the envelope of women’s fashion. She is truly a fashion icon and many of her influences can be seen today, (boyfriend blazers, pleated pants women’s dress pants, woman’s pant suits) in the fashion world.
“I dress for myself. Not for the image, not for the public, not for the fashion, not for men”. -Marlene Dietrich
