So one day when I was surfing along on the internet superhighway looking for some cool brands, I happened to stumble upon one of the coolest EVER!

Shelfies is a new Canadian based apparel company specializing in these INCREDIBLE photo realistic, printed sweaters. I absolutely think they are such a fresh burst of vibrancy which is totally what the industry needs right now. I really enjoy the colors and the “take a double look” factor when you walk into a room with one of these awesome sweaters.

Yeah they will make you hungry, but more importantly make you look cool as well, a cucumber! Haha get it? Because one of my favorites is the cucumber sweater? Ahhhh….I know my jokes suck lol.

Its been reported that there has been a steady decline in customer-service and who know’s more about customer service than Alexander Wang?

The incredibly talented MAD Tv actress Anjelah Johnson’s character Bon Qui Qui is hired at Alexander Wang store and serves up the rudeness to unsuspecting tres chic clients such as Alessandra Ambrosio, Simon Doonan, and Mr A$AP Rocky. I thought it was very witty way to promote the store (even though the service there is pretty, well snobbish lets be honest) as well as bring some laughter and fun back into the swing of things.

Its almost here! New York Fashion Week is kicking off in less than two weeks and I can feel the excitement rising. For the most part, I hope the great names we love and covet bring us just that, EXCITEMENT back into fashion. With all that has happen within the fashion world thus far, most notably the arrival of Raf Simmons at Dior and Alexander Wang now at the helm of Balenciaga people are on edge for whats to come.

Excited for the most part to be inspired again and see what people will be talking about this season.

Thank you Kenzo! Ah yes, who better than to deliver the coolness to the fellas this season than Humberto Leon and Carol Lim. Right down from the heavens it seems too have been sent, as the inspiration of the collection were mythical sky gods and goddesses. Spun from the constant images of the sky via traveling on planes as the duo are bi coastal with the Kenzo brand these days.

The collection was full of amazing could prints, sleek fitted trousers and incredible coats in deep shades purple, black and blue. ”When we were thinking about these warriors and goddesses, they were all kind of powerful feeling, and the shapes gave us that,” says co-designer Humberto Leon, and that aspect is certainly achieved with the powerful rounded shoulders, paired with the crisp straight lines of the trousers. Just as the coats also projected  power evoking presence with the A line shapes and tailoring.

So just as the clouds blew eye fetchingly across fabrics on Kenzo’s amazing coats, my unrelentingly keen love blew to Florence for this Fall 2013 collection.

The past few months for me have been filled with excitement, confusion, disappointment and a small bit of fear. But I was raised to be tough, maybe not physically but for damn sure mentally. I realized that it was time for me to put priorities in perspective and understand that life is incredibly sweet and filled with many chances to be something great.

Add to the fact that I am the oldest of four siblings and I am their role model, so failure is NOT an option for me. I want my little brothers and sister to understand that yes, you will encounter obstacle courses in life, but never giving up is the sweetest reward.

So with that, this is a NEW year, and a NEW me indeed and I am working to make sure that this year will be a learning experience for me as I am sure that it will be. Learning is always important to me and I hope that it will be for you as well…in all aspects of life.

So New York Fashion week is now over, another week of  shows, appointments, parties and social events have come and gone. This year was exceptionally special for me because it was the first season that I was sent on assignment to cover shows for my OWN Magazine team. Though the list of shows I attended was not at all long, it still was a memorable week that will surely linger with me until the February shows. So I have compiled a few photos of how fashion week 2013 was seen through my eyes, sorry for the poor photo quality lol

General Idea S/S 2013

General Idea was one of the first shows I hit up, featuring some amazing accessories such as those wonderful backpacks and shoes. The plaids, beanies, bright colors and shorts with socks, totally was on par for the shows title “The Last Lumberjack”.

GQ Magazine x Bally Event

The GQ event hosted by Bally was the ultimate in the gentlemen’s social event. Held at the Nordstrom pop up on West Broadway, the drinks flowed (and I drank lol) Good times, awesome style and ping-pong was the vibe and I totally enjoyed every minute of it!

Shade of Grey by Micah Cohen S/S 2013

Shades of Grey by Micah Cohen was another great presentation consisting of that cool “skater” kid vibe. Full of bright prints, cargo pocketed blazers and interesting knits and woven’s for the fall months ahead. I didn’t stay too long but from what I gathered, athletic wear and comfort seemed to the be the aesthetic.

Macroons and Bellini’s @ The Tribeca Grand

So….this photo is pretty self-explanatory. I needed some indulgence and the Tribeca Grand totally delivered with these simply incredible macaroons! #DELISH

Rad Hourani S/S 13

The ultra futurism was exactly what I thrived on at the Rad Hourani show. With Kate Lanphear and countless other editors front row it was a show not to be missed. I love simplicity and minimalism, and Rad always knows how to deliver just that. The cuts were incredible and I was surprised by his color palette this season which included a beautiful soft shade of purple for the menswear. Overall it was pretty…well Rad!

Meet my Panther.

So if you don’t know by now I have a thing for interesting jewelry, and on route to an event held at the Standard Hotel I wore my vintage panther brooch. It always makes me feel that extra bit of nostalgia, and the fact that it blinds people at night because it’s so sparkly always helps too! lol

Noon by Noor S/S 13

I totally got a 70′s vibe from the designers at Noon by Noor. Consisting of slinky silk ensembles, amazing embellishments and a beautiful color pallet of gold, cream and soft pinks, it was a hit! This was the first season I experienced with this brand and I will be sure to check it out further. Wonderful job!

Phillip Lim S/S 13

And last but certainly not the least, one of my fashion hero’s Phillip Lim sent out a high-octane collection inspired by the notion of “Cut It Up” including some pretty bad ass gladiator sandals, amazing leather accessories with gold coatings and a beautiful array of floral prints. It was held at the huge post office on 8th avenue across from Madison Square Garden, and the turn out was amazing! Every important editor was there and countless celebs too, it was a laid back approach to dressing for women this season and It was among my favorites of the week.

So all in all New York Fashion Week S/S 2013 was full of exciting shows and parties, and now we move forward to London (which I plan on attending next year) to watch in admiration as the brits deliver what they do best.

When I wear 3.1 Phillip Lim I truly feel like an urban/chic badass, which for me is perfect. His understanding of street fashion mixed with modern influences, makes him one of my favorite menswear designers. It was only appropriate the designer took home this years CFDA for emerging menswear designer of the year, and I was so happy to know that the CFDA took notice to his accomplishments with menswear as of late. This season he pulled inspiration from Brazilian street fashion with Japanese sensibility. He called it the “Nipo-Brasileiro sub-cultures” which totally put the image in my head of tough beach going Brazilian and Japanese kids looking amazing in the urban pits of Rio. I thought the collection was amazing and so true to the Lim man (which totally is me,  in my head ) check out some of my favorite looks from the resort collection.

Hands down one of my favorite resort collections for menswear.

Hey guys, I recently conducted an interview and styled a feature with one of my good pals and up and coming musical artist, Tracee Owo. She is a true creative talent who has impressed me with her intellect, love of music and art and of course her personal style. Check out the full interview below.

T.B.N: Thank you Tracee for being our very first featured artist for Live Astro New York! Please introduce yourself for everyone – where are you from and where do you currently live?

Tracee: Thank you guys for the feature! To put it simply I’m a creative mind. My creativity includes being a vocalist, songwriter, musician, and more. I feel like creativity has no boundaries. I’m also the daughter of hard-working Nigerian parents who are my biggest inspiration. I’m originally from Prince George’s County outside of D.C. but now reside in Brooklyn, NY.

T.B.N: I’ve had the pleasure of knowing you for some time now and I know that you are a very goal-oriented person, what is the most important goal you wish to reach this year?

Tracee: The most important goal for me this year is to reach and make an impact on more people through my music, one person at a time. Only good can come from that!

When I create it never feels like a process. For me, its more like a “happening.” Waiting for and allowing the right moment to happen and in turn creating something beautiful..

T.B.N: What do you find to be the most difficult and the most simple in the way that you work?

Tracee: It’s funny because I don’t find this to be difficult but a lot of the people I work with, whether it be producers, engineers, graphic designers, etc. have all said the same thing: “You’re very particular, direct, and want things to be perfect… but I like that” Although they say they like it, I know it gets on their nerves sometimes. That’s why I appreciate all of them so much. It can be difficult to be that way at times because it may take a bit longer to get things done..but when it’s right, it’s right. Oddly enough, the most simple part in the way I work is actually recording. I like to over-prepare but it works.

 T.B.N: What are some of your favorite artists, and who’s on your ipod currently?

We shot all in one day, guerrilla style, at three locations, one being a beach in early September and it was a bit chilly outside that day. But our energy and commitment  was amazing and it shows in our final product.
